I can’t believe I’ve already been in California a week! This weekend flew by. Friday, me and Bekah spent the day with Tom his wife Carrie and their 5 year old son, Brady, at Badger Pass. Badger pass is a ski resort in Yosemite national park, about an hour from our home. We were on Brady watch, as we cross country skiied, for about the first hour while Tom and Carrie decided what they were going to do. It was fairly slow going because Brady wasn’t in any sort of rush. Although he managed to stay on his ski’s most of the time! Finally Tom and Carrie came to the rescue, took Brady, and we took off on our own adventure. After skiing on the very wide trail we found a new man made trail that went off of it. We skied about 10k to an insane lookout point. The peak overlooked most of the rugged mountain ranges and valleys close to home. Almost immediately after seeing the mouth dropping view, we had to ski as fast as we could back because we promised to be back by mid afternoon! We made it back just as Carrie, Brady and Tom were rapping up there skiing for the day.
Saturday, Kelli and Bekah went skiing and snowboarding again and I decided to stay around base camp for the day. It was nice to have a day to myself. I slept in, went for a jog and walked up to the local store. That evening we decided to go watch a bluegrass band play at a local coffee shop. There were tons of young people there from a different outdoor program just a few miles up the road. We danced, sipped coffee and watched the band. It was a blast!
Sunday, we went to church in the morning and then had a pizza lunch with a few of the young people. It was good to get to know a few more people around the area. After lunch it was time for our weekly venture to the Grocery store. Me and Bekah have been a pretty good combination for keeping some health gluten free food around here. Our grocery lists always include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables! Although I usually cheat daily with a peanut butter and jam toast for breakfast or sandwiches for lunch.
Tom informed us today that this is our last week of having any sanity. Next week our schedule begins to get a little crazy with winter camping and then prepping for Ecuador for 6 weeks. And I thought we've been busy the past week? Guess i'm in for a suprise.
Anyways this evening we are having our 2nd family night with the Summit families. Pizza is for main course! I should get back at my reading now. Thanks for your continual thoughts and prayer! I hope I can continue a blog throughout all of it!
